PVC resin FAQ: orders, payment and inspection
Questions buyers ask us first
If a question is not listed here, send it in. A direct answer is provided.
What is your minimum order quantity?
MOQ: one 20 ft container (FOB China) for commercial orders; one 25 kg bag for a sample, which is charged. Mixed grades in one container are possible. If a full container exceeds the volume of the next production run, request an LCL quotation.
Which grades do you supply, and how do I choose?
SG-5, SG-3, SG-7 and SG-8 are our standard range. Beyond that we can source other suspension grades through the same channel.
As a rule: SG-5 for pipes, profiles and general rigid work; SG-3 for soft products where plasticiser loading is high (cable, film, artificial leather); SG-7 and SG-8 for rigid sheet, transparent parts and high-flow injection. Provide the product and the process; the grade is confirmed by us.
Carbide based or ethylene based: does it matter?
Both routes reach the same GB/T specification and both are available from us.
Carbide-based resin is made from calcium carbide and is normally the more cost-effective option. Ethylene-based resin, produced from ethylene feedstock, typically shows better batch consistency and lower impurity counts, which matters for transparent and electrical-grade applications. If the end product is sensitive to either route, state so and we will quote the route that suits it.
Will a reorder match the lot I had before?
SG-5 is a band, not a fixed figure. The standard sets a viscosity number from 107 to 118 mL/g, and each production plant works to its own recipe and lands at its own point inside that range. Two lots can both be conforming and still fuse at slightly different speeds on the buyer's line.
What stays fixed is the grade and the standard. Every lot we ship sits inside the GB/T 5761-2018 band, and what that lot actually measured is on the certificate from the plant that made it. Request the certificate for the lot offered at the enquiry stage and the numbers are supplied with the test methods attached.
If the formulation runs tight, write the position into the specification. "SG-5, viscosity number 112 to 118" leaves much less room than "SG-5" alone. State this at the enquiry stage and the lot is matched accordingly. If the buyer's own approval process needs to know the producing plant, ask and it will be stated.
What are your payment terms?
T/T only. Typically 30% deposit with the balance against a copy of the bill of lading, with the exact split agreed per order and written into the contract. Nothing is left on a verbal understanding. We do not work on L/C or D/P.
What is the lead time, and what can delay it?
Dispatch is normally about 5 days after the deposit is received, depending on grade, quantity and the producing plant's current schedule. Peak season, holiday periods around Chinese New Year, and sudden export-policy changes in the destination market can extend this. The window quoted is the realistic one.
Do you handle the export documents, or is that on me?
We export in our own name as the shipper and issue the full document set: invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and COA. Where the buyer's market needs additional legalisation, fumigation or a specific FTA origin form, inform us before shipment so it is issued correctly the first time.
Can you help with the import requirements of my country?
We can state the documentation we issue and the specification the material meets, and flag anything known to affect the buyer's market. Import licensing, registration and duties are the buyer's responsibility, governed by the buyer's own customs authority.
Consult us before committing to a price level or a shipping date. Some markets have price thresholds and registration obligations that change how a shipment must be declared. Designing the order around them costs less than correcting it afterwards.
Are you a factory or a trading company?
A trading company, and we never pretend otherwise. Our value sits on the sourcing side: several first-tier agency lines with producers, plus our own export licence. A single plant can only offer its own price and schedule; we choose between several.
Can the goods be inspected before shipment?
Yes. The buyer may appoint SGS, BV, Intertek or its own representative to inspect at the producing plant before shipment. The report is sent to the buyer with the documents, or ahead of them. Photographs of the container being loaded and sealed are also sent to the buyer for the record.
What is the HS code for PVC resin?
39041090 for suspension PVC resin in primary form. The classification call for a given market belongs to the customs broker, so the material description travels with the code. Duty rates and import conditions are national.
How many bags fit in one container?
It depends on the bag size and how the container is stacked, so a fixed tonnage per container is not quoted: it moves with the bulk density of the grade and the loading pattern. The container type and the loading plan are confirmed in the offer.
Can several grades share one container?
Yes. Grades are segregated and labelled by grade inside the container, and the packing list records the split.
Which Incoterm do you quote?
FOB at a Chinese port. The offer covers the resin and the loading; sea freight and destination charges sit on the buyer's side, where the better rate is usually held.
